My name is Simon Shipman and I have only been Detecting for approximately 5 months (but, WOW what a fabulous hobby), and have found nothing of note, or so i thought.

Some time in November i was eagerly detecting my Mothers front garden in the village of Sloothby, near Lincolnshire's East Coast which has been in our family of farmers since at least the early 1700's, when i came across this buckle which measures approx. 2" across the face and of unknown metal type (see attached photo). I originally thought it was just one of the many modern finds i have come across in this spot i.e decimal coins, modern pendants, etc. but have discovered it is aGeorgian Shoe Buckle fome the late 18th/early 19th Century.

This is the first GENUINE artefact i have found..... It may have even belonged to my Great Great Great Great Grandfather !!!!!
